Publishing scientific data
Once you are set up for data sharing, publication
(sharing with the whole world) is straightforward. You just remove
any access restrictions on your site, and anyone can access the date.
But does this count as data publication?
A huge number of websites are not listed on any search engine, and will
never be found unless someone knows the exact address to go to.
To solve this problem, Axiope runs a site listing service. Whenever an
archive is uploaded to a publicly accessible web server, the
system can optionally alert one or more Axiope servers to the existence
of the site. They then add it to their central list of sites, and,
even better, in due course they will visit the site and catalog its
entire contents.
The individual items of your published data can then be located easily
using Axiope's dedicated search service.
